Wild Fish & the 2025 Oregon Legislative Session: What You Need to Know

From January through June, Oregon’s state legislators will make crucial decisions about agency budgets and policy directions that will shape the state's future – including the fate of our wild fish and rivers.
As Native Fish Society's Legislative & Policy Director, Jennifer Fairbrother is working tirelessly throughout the session to advance policies and secure funding that support wild fish while defending against potentially harmful legislation.
However, Jennifer's voice alone isn't enough. Our success depends on a groundswell of support from people like you. Your voice matters to state legislators, and your advocacy for wild fish conservation and recovery across Oregon can make a real difference. Here's how you can get involved:
Meet with Your Legislators: Schedule a meeting with your state representative and senator to discuss key bills, highlight funding needs, or simply share your passion for wild fish. Help them understand why supporting fish abundance should be a priority.
Track Important Legislation: Stay informed about bills that could impact our wild fish and rivers. We've provided a list below of the key legislation we're monitoring.
Make Your Voice Heard: When critical bills come up for hearing, share your perspective through written or verbal testimony - either in person at the capitol or virtually.
Together, we can ensure that wild fish have a strong voice in Salem this year. Your engagement in the legislative process – whether through meetings, tracking bills, or providing testimony – amplifies our collective impact and helps create positive change for Oregon's rivers and wild fish.
Stay connected with us for regular updates on legislative developments and timely opportunities to take action. When we speak up together for wild fish, decision-makers listen.
