An Introduction to River Steward Stories

Posted:

What many people don’t realize is that by and large, America’s most significant conservation victories start with a small group of concerned locals determined to make a difference. That’s why Native Fish Society’s River Steward Program exists: to empower, inspire and grow a region-wide network of local grassroots advocates to keep the Northwest's fish and rivers forever wild. River Stewards come from all walks of life, but share the same common thread - a passion for their homewaters and a dedication to ensuring that science-based knowledge and cultural wisdom inform strategies to ensure the complex lifecycle of wild fish continues for generations to come.

This year we're launching the "River Steward Stories" to showcase the many faces within the Native Fish Society River Steward Program. Month-by-month we'll introduce you all to some of the different stewards across the program to demonstrate the projects, concerns, and issues River Stewards are working on in their homewaters. So join with us and stay tuned to learn about everyday people taking action to ensure our vision of abundant wild fish, free-flowing rivers, and thriving local communities.
