Tell the Director of WDFW to Legalize Sustainable Commercial Fishing in the lower Columbia River

Our friends at Wild Fish Conservancy are delivering this important petition on Monday, the 15th!

After half a decade of successful research, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is currently deciding whether to legalize fish traps in the lower Columbia River.

This pending decision by WDFW’s Director would legalize modified fish traps at a broader scale in the lower Columbia River through an Emerging Commercial Fishery designation— a truly historic decision that would finally allow commercial fishers that strive to fish sustainably the opportunity to use sustainable alternatives to gill nets. This alternative would enable safe release of wild salmon and steelhead for the first time with alternative gears.

Please join us in supporting this decision by taking sign-on to the petition to Director Kelly Susewind. Sign the petition today!
