Bob Clay’s Riverwatch Rods—built of semi-hollow construction in the spirit of E.C. Powell—are legendary bamboo rods in their own right. The Kispiox Valley October Caddis double-handed rod is a ten-foot 4/5-weight, the ultimate fall dry fly rod for Kispiox River steelhead. The rod is flamed to temper the bamboo and features a matte finish of hand-rubbed varnish. The reel seat is dark nickel silver to match the dark titanium guides. The wraps are a brick red silk, an homage to the classic fall colors of the Kispiox Valley. The rod includes two tips, a cloth bag, and a powder-coated aluminum tube. This bamboo Spey rod is light and responsive, nicely suited to shorter Scandinavian floating lines—the ultimate setup for dry flies and skaters when October Caddis are on the water on the Kispiox.
