For years, federal agencies responsible for protecting water quality and threatened fish have failed to hold the Winchester Water Control District responsible for Winchester Dam’s harm. Unfortunately, the Army Corps of Engineers, which enforces the Clean Water Act, and the National Marine Fisheries Service, which is responsible for protecting Coho salmon, are failing to bring forward fines or penalties stemming from the disastrous pollution and delays to the migration of threatened salmon that occurred during the attempted repairs to Winchester Dam in the summer of 2023.
Take action by sending a letter to your federal elected officials urging them to direct these agencies to do their jobs, hold Winchester Water Control District and their contractors accountable, and protect our native fish runs as well as clean water and the rule of law in our great state.
