As Native Fish Society celebrates 30 years of conservation, we're reflecting on the powerful current that has carried us here - YOU - our volunteers, donors, and fellow wild fish advocates.
It isn’t just one policy win or one river protected; it’s the powerful, living network you’ve helped build. It’s the volunteers planting trees to restore habitat on the Molalla River, the River Stewards testifying in Salem, and the Native Fish Fellow collecting genetic data on wild steelhead from the Klamath, Smith, and Rogue. It’s you, making each of these efforts possible.
As we stand on the shoulders of this legacy, we are launching our most focused and integrated effort yet: the Wild is the Future campaign. This campaign will strategically expand the number of rivers managed exclusively for wild fish—securing abundance for generations and proving that thriving ecosystems and communities go hand in hand.
This campaign is built on a model you helped us perfect: revive wild fish through proactive policy, protect them in their homewaters, and empower the local stewards who are the heart of this work.

It allows us to challenge outdated hatchery practices in the Oregon legislature while our team collaborates with the Lax Kw’alaams First Nation in British Columbia on an innovative selective fishery. It funds critical science, like our Salmonfly and Bioenergetics studies on the Deschutes, while we press for the removal of Winchester Dam on the North Umpqua. Every dollar creates ripples of impact that gather into a groundswell of support for wild fish across the Northwest.
